I graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2009 with a degree in information technology and a specialization in network administration. I took part in many group projects, ranging from system/ database design and implementation to setting up secure servers and attacking them, exploiting security vulnerabilities to gain access or deny service to the users. Moreover, focus was placed on virtual environments to cut costs and minimize downtime.
While in school, I worked as a network support specialist intern for the Medical College of Georgia, which is a well-known college as well as full-functioning hospital. During my stay, I set up routers, managed switches, and network access control appliances on a very large fiber and copper-based network. Part of my duties were to troubleshoot connections, block infected machines, interact with end users and assist them with any issues they had. I supported Windows, Macintosh and Linux environments.
Upon graduation, I began working for Security Federal Bank as a network communications specialist where I have had a wide range of responsibilities. My projects have included implementing a virtual environment, including an iSCSI SAN and multiple ESXi hosts across two data centers. I manage everything in the environment, including the hosts, network, SAN and the backups.
I implemented an almost completely self-managed Linux-based reverse proxy for the Exchange 2003 server. The proxy downloads and installs patches daily as well as emails administrators the access and error logs. Additionally, I have been able to automate many daily or weekly tasks such as restarts, and stopping and starting services by scheduling batch files or Powershell scripts.
Currently, I am upgrading Exchange 2003 to 2010, incorporating extended DAGs across AD sites for high availability. I am also upgrading the VMware infrastructure, adding multiple SANs that replicate data between the primary and secondary sites. I have handled everything from the design to the product selection and implementation of the SANs.
I feel that my experience and degree in information technology, coupled with my strong desire to continue to learn, would greatly benefit your operation. I am passionate about my work and the future. I love to find ways to incorporate new and existing technologies into businesses that allow them to operate more efficiently.
